The Oak Hill School Student Experience

At Oak Hill School, we’re cultivating curious, creative, socially and environmentally conscious critical thinkers who go on to become real-world problem solvers and productive members of society. What makes Oak Hill truly unique is our small class sizes, exceptional teachers and the unique experience we offer students and families. In addition to core academics, we nurture what is gained through music, art, theater, technology, physical activities, after-school offerings and daily exposure to our natural world. Our beautiful 72-acre campus is the perfect place at which to teach, learn and grow. Contact us today to schedule a school tour.

Core Academics

English language arts, mathematics, social studies and science serve as the foundation for student success. Our educators are less focused on the memorization of facts than they are on presenting information and challenging students in ways that promote creativity, innovation and collaboration. Our learners benefit from small class sizes and meaningful relationships with our educators.

Foreign Languages

Foreign Languages

Two foreign languages are taught at Oak Hill School: Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Grades K-2 learn both languages and have the opportunity to choose which of the two they would like to pursue in grades 3-8. In addition to the languages, students are immersed in the history and traditions of each culture. When students enter an area high school, they are more than prepared to further their foreign language education.

Natural World

Situated on 72 acres of oak savannah, orchards, forest, grasslands and rolling hills, our campus is home to variety of wildlife. Science and art instruction are often held at the pond, and well-marked trails weave through the woods and welcome exploration. We support sustainability in every way, offering an experience that prepares students to lead us toward a more sustainable planet. They learn about natural systems, conservation, gardening, beekeeping, cartography, and how to identify animal tracks.

Outdoor Pursuits

Middle school-age students apply their natural world and physical fitness education in our outdoor pursuits. From snow camping to summiting 10,358-foot South Sister in the Cascades, students learn essential outdoor skills, such as trip planning, knots, shelter building, fire starting, map and compass navigation, and the 10 essentials for survival. They also build self-confidence and respect for the outdoors along the way.
