Grades: 7 - 8
Location: Oak Hill School, Eugene, OR
Schedule: Temporary Part Time, 0.6 FTE – 2020-21 school year
Reports to: Head of School
Salary Range: $35,000 - $38,000 at 1.0 FTE, (pro-rated for part time FTE) salaried with 10 month pay option

Oak Hill School seeks a dynamic and talented faculty member who can teach 7th Grade Life Science and 8th Grade Physical Science for the 2020-21 school year. The ideal faculty member will create a rich learning environment, employ varied teaching approaches, and use multiple tools to assess student understanding. They will have the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members in developing and delivering effective lessons to a diverse group of learners. Enthusiasm for devising a variety of student experiences is key and may include developing curriculum that uses our 72 acre campus as a classroom; asking students to pursue inquiry based learning, designing projects to use as dynamic assessment tools and encouraging healthy classroom discourse as a way to deepen student understanding.
Position Duties and Responsibilities: Proven knowledge and expertise in relevant areas, (7th Grade Life Science and 8th Grade Physical Science) to effectively perform teaching duties. Preparation and implementation of daily lessons Delivery of assignments and timely evaluation of all relevant classwork and student progress. Timely and proactive communication with parents about student progress. Collaboration with other members of faculty, admin and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary and community-based learning opportunities that add to the school. Active positive participation in all faculty meetings. Support of division and school-wide initiatives through committee work where appropriate
Education and Experience: The successful candidate will hold at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science or related field. An advanced degree is strongly preferred. Proven knowledge and expertise to effectively perform teaching duties including but not limited to the following areas: Middle School science. Minimum of 2 years teaching in a middle school or high school setting.
The successful candidate will also possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration, cooperation and collegiality. A willingness to collaborate and engage in dialogue about instructional practices with peers, and an interest in participating at a schoolwide level in activities is essential. Experience in online distance learning is a plus.
