Creating caring and responsible critical thinkers.
OAK HILL SCHOOL, located on a seventy-two acre campus outside of Eugene, Oregon, is an independent, secular, nonprofit, co-educational day school serving students in kindergarten through grade twelve. Founded in 1994 as a college preparatory institution, the school currently has an enrollment of 211 students with 55. The student-faculty ratio in the Upper School is approximately 4:1. The average high school class has 10 students. As an academic environment that promotes cross-cultural interaction and understanding, the high school includes 15% international students (China, South Korea, and Mexico).
OHS possesses a fantastic staff and faculty. All of our teachers are certified in the fields in which they teach. Many (more than 75%) hold advanced degrees. Some have been awarded doctorates or are working toward them. Due to the vibrancy and curiosity of our students and the natural beauty of the working environment, turn-over is very low. The average tenure of current Oak Hill teachers is close to eight years. New teachers have been hired to meet rising enrollment.
The OHS student body is a very diverse, eclectic group. It looks much like the surrounding communities. There is therefore, no one certain ‘type’ of Oak Hill student. We look for friendly, dynamic, high-performing, curious, creative, and motivated students. In several words, we have a group of nice, bright, good, and idealistic kids. Just in meeting them and listening to them speak, it is plain to see they are going far places.
